Since the beginning of 2023, we’ve been known as Spot. What many may not know is that Spot was initially a side project Jorge (our CTO and Co-founder) and I created years ago in the tech mobility space.
When we decided to pursue our vision full-time, we were laser-focused on one thing: delivering traction and building a transformative product. Branding took a backseat. The name, logo, and website were quick decisions made in a single day—an approach that worked in the short term. Over time, we built a strong connection to the name Spot, but it came with challenges that limited our potential to scale.
As we’ve grown and clarified our mission, it became evident that we needed a name and identity that truly reflected who we are and where we’re headed. And so, we became Noxus.
Domain Challenges
Spot is a simple, catchy name—but that simplicity came at a cost. It’s a name everyone has thought of before. Searching for “Spot” online brings up competitors ranging from major brands like Spotify to countless smaller businesses.
The implications for us were significant: acquiring a domain like Spot.com would be nearly impossible, and our existing domains—getspot.io, spot-technologies.com—were neither intuitive nor memorable. This fractured online presence made it harder for people to find us and trust our brand.
Being Hard to Find
In conversations with customers and partners, one issue kept surfacing: “I searched for Spot, but couldn’t find it.” Competing with such a widely used keyword on Google made discoverability an ongoing challenge.
For a company building an AI Operating System—where trust, professionalism, and accessibility are critical—this wasn’t sustainable. We needed a name that would stand out online and give us the visibility we need to grow.
Why did we choose Noxus?
A Reflection of Our Roots
Noxus holds a special meaning for us as founders. The four of us met over a decade ago as engineering students, and back then, we spent hours playing League of Legends. Noxus, despite being an antagonist faction in the game, was one of our favorite organizations.
The Noxus ethos—valuing strength, ambition, and meritocracy—resonated with us then and continues to inspire us now. While we don’t embrace the darker aspects of the Noxian story, its emphasis on growth, resilience, and pushing boundaries aligns with the values we hold as a company.
A Short, Memorable Name
Noxus is short, symmetrical, and easy to pronounce. Its clean, proportional design works well in both visual branding and online searches. Most importantly, it exudes trust and professionalism—qualities essential for a company operating at the intersection of AI and enterprise innovation.
Aligned with Our Mission
At Noxus, we believe that AI has the power to transform work by making intelligence and automation accessible to everyone in an organization. Our mission is to bridge the gap between powerful AI models and the people using them. We empower teams to focus on meaningful work, rather than being bogged down by repetitive tasks or disconnected data systems.
Noxus embodies this mission. In League of Legends, Noxus is an empire that values strength and potential, regardless of background. Similarly, we aim to create an AI ecosystem that democratizes access to advanced tools, empowering organizations of all sizes to harness AI’s full potential.
What Noxus Represents
Rebranding to Noxus wasn’t just a name change—it was a shift in identity that aligns with our long-term vision. As we build the world’s first AI Operating System, Noxus represents:
- Empowerment: Giving non-technical users the tools they need to leverage AI confidently and effectively.
- Innovation: Continuously pushing the boundaries of AI adoption, making it seamless and impactful for businesses.
- Resilience: Creating secure, robust solutions that respect data privacy and compliance.
- Growth: Enabling organizations to expand their capabilities and achieve more through intelligent automation.
We’re not just building AI tools—we’re redefining how enterprises interact with AI, making it an integral, indispensable part of their operations.
Conclusion
Changing from Spot to Noxus wasn’t just about fixing technical hurdles like domain availability or search engine discoverability. It was about choosing a name that reflects who we are and what we stand for—a name that can grow with us as we scale our impact in the enterprise AI space.
Noxus represents ambition, innovation, and our commitment to empowering organizations with the tools they need to thrive in an increasingly complex world. We’re excited about this next chapter and look forward to continuing this journey under a name that truly embodies our vision.
Together, we’re building the future of work—one intelligent, automated process at a time.
